At Lynch Contractors Ltd our tarmac driveways are carried out to the same specifications as our block paved driveways.
We dig out and add type 1 hardcore stone upto a thickness of between 4 and 8 inches depending on the ground underneath. This is then compacted with a roller to provide a hard wearing solid base. The tarmac is then set in 2 layers, the base being 50mm thick and the top course 25mm thick when rolled.
We have a choice of red or black tarmac to choose from.
